November 9, 2019: Hungerthon at Ohav Shalom in Merrick. This is a community-wide food-drive and free benefit concert by Northern Lights, Long Island’s # 1 rock and roll tribute band. It is open to the public. All attendees may enter with a donation of a non-perishable, packaged food item that will assist Long Island Cares in feeding local families in need for Thanksgiving. December 15, 2019: “Stop the Bleed” at Merrick Jewish Centre. The Stop the Bleed program teaches civilians the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in such an emergency situation, so they are able to provide immediate aid until first responders are able to take over care of an injured person.
