Fundraiser: Screening of “The Mighty Atom” With Pre-Show Performance By Local Strongman “The Crusher”

On January 14, 2018, the Merrick Jewish Centre is hosting a terrific fundraiser to raise money for the construction of a youth lounge.  Please come out to support this important fundraiser! (Participants do not have to be MJC members).

MJC will be screening “The Mighty Atom,” a documentary that tells the story of Joseph Greenstein, who at 5’4″ became the world’s strongest man.  The film’s director, Stephen Greenstein, is Joseph Greenstein’s grandson, and will lead a Q&A following the film.

There also will be a pre-show performance from local strongman Steve “The Crusher” Weiner!

Price includes popcorn and bottled water.

The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and will be held at MJC’s Center for Jewish Life, located at 225 Fox Blvd in Merrick.

As we head into 2018, I wanted to spread the word about the Merrick-Bellmore Jewish Community Council, an organization that serves to unite the broader Jewish community on Long Island’s South Shore.

The three main objectives of the MBJCC are: (1) to encourage a deeper appreciation of and connection to our Jewish heritage and culture; (2) to combat all forms of anti-Semitism and to protect and preserve the Jewish community; and (3) to support the State of Israel.

Imams in Houston and NJ call on Muslims to “kill all the Jews”– and the media says nothing

Last Friday, an imam in Texas called on Muslims to “kill all the Jews.”

Have you heard about this?  Of course not.  But why not?  Isn’t it newsworthy that U.S.-based Muslim leaders explicitly preach terrorism against Jews?  Doesn’t that deserve attention?  Of course it does.

So why is no one is covering it?

Sheikh Raed Saleh Al-Rousan,  the founder of the Tajweed Institute’s Houston branch, first proclaimed that the Jews “killed the Prophets and the Messengers of Allah,” and then quoted from a Quranic hadith calling for the murder of all Jews.  He then encouraged Muslims to kill Jews in Israel, saying “The hour (Judgment Day) will not start until Muslims fight the Jews there, in Palestine.”

And, the same day, Imam Aymen Elkasaby, of the Islamic Center of Jersey City in New Jersey, denounced Jews as “apes and pigs” and prayed for “Allah [to] Count them [Jews] one by one, and kill them down to the very last one. Do not leave a single one on the face of the Earth.”  Excerpts of the transcript of this sermon can be found here.

Why have American Islamic groups failed to condemn this hate speech?  And why have the media been silent?
